Turn on any sporting event and you’ll see the team logos of the two sports teams playing against each other.  Team logos and sports logos usually have logos that over emphasize one object such as the team mascot or the sport itself.  This is where you really want to stand out from the crowd so that you team is instantly recognizable.  Teams spend a lot of money do design a sports logo.

Style over substance is perfect for any sports team

This is where you would want to emphasize style for substance.  Teams don’t need to sell a product other than the team itself.  Therefore the logo should reflect the team instead of a widget or a car for instance.  On some occasion the logo will have some aspect of the sport in the logo.  The logo could potentially have a basketball, baseball, football or hockey puck.  Colors are definitely on the bright side.  Colors are usually masculine in shade as well.  There wouldn’t be any pastel colors in sports logos.  The style of the logo may emphasize speed, agility, skill and some of the aspect of the game that is necessary to succeed.

The logo design would be pretty obvious since you’ll be designing a logo based on the name of the team.  The team name would be depicted in the logo by either the words or by whatever the team is named.  For instance, the Dodgers would be probably just words because it may be difficult to draw a “dodger” and in this case the logo is in fact words.  Now the team “bears” might either be the word “bears” or the actual animal.  It comes down to the designer to generate the best sports logo design.
