When making a logo you will want to ensure that you follow a few guidelines and tips. These are suggested tips, and under many circumstances you can branch outside of these guidelines to get that perfect logo. These tips while breakable, should be following in MOST situations so follow them carefully.
- Know how your logo will be used.
The display of your brand may be different depending on where it is being displayed. The cost of displaying your logo on different medium can cost significantly different depending on how and were it is being displayed. Displaying your logo on stationery, a sign, or another physical item can be significantly more expensive depending on how it is displayed.
- Make sure the name is clearly legible
Try not to use too much script font unless it is easy to read. If you want to use script font, just make sure that it is easy to read and it is clear to your customers.
- Limit use of colors and gradations
Use of too many colors can make a logo difficult to read. Most memorable logos are using 1-4 colors and not many more.
- Use complimentary colors
Colors can be fun to work with and using strange and bold colors may be exciting and funny to look at. But remember, that you want your logo to appeal to the masses and not a select few. So when choosing the colors for your brand, make sure that you stick to a few colors that are complimentary and not too wildly unique.
